RACE FOR HOPE 2011
August 2011
What a gorgeous day! What a wonderful event! What a worthwhile cause!!!
On Saturday, August 13, 2011 The Race for Hope Fundraiser was held at the beautiful Chester, Nova Scotia home of Tim and Bernadine Moore.
Hundreds gathered in support of The Stephen Lewis Foundation - all were entertained and enlightened.
Mr. Lewis spoke to everyone, as did marathon swimmer Kristin Roe. There were great musical performances by Lennie Gallant, John Gracie, Terry Kelly and Ruth Mathiang - and special guest, Dragons' Den star and business woman, Arlene Dickinson was there as thousands of dollars were raised in support of the foundation.
"The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) works with community-level organizations which are turning the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa by providing care and support to women, orphaned children, grandmothers and people living with HIV and AIDS. Since 2003, we have funded over 700 initiatives, partnering with 300 community-based organizations in the 15 African countries hardest hit by the pandemic."(source)
It was wonderful to be there and be able to bring you the video above - a quick glimpse at what was a great day of friendship and fundraising. Between the marvelous music, the spectacular scenery and incredible hospitality - it was a day those in attendance will not soon forget.
We talked with the event host - businessman, philanthropist, author, speaker and great friend of SABS - Tim Moore and discovered why he was so willing to support the cause.
You'll also see PEI's award winning singer songwriter Lennie Gallant perform "Peter's Dream" - the perfect soundtrack to a perfect day. SABS
