The much anticipated project from the multi-award winning Bairdsville, New Brunswick Bluesman will soon be released.
Coal Mining Blues is packed with powerful lyrics, incredible playing and the soulful sounds fans around the world and especially here in the Atlantic Provinces have grown to adore from Mr. Matt Andersen.
The project was produced by Colin Linden at Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, NY, mixed in Nashville by Linden himself and mastered at Sterling Sound in NYC .
Levon Helm’s daughter and Ollabelle lead singer, Amy Helm sings on the album and Garth Hudson, former keyboard player in The Band performs along with a star studded array of musicians.
Coal Mining Blues is set to drop Sept. 20/11 along with news of a major tour that will once again see Andersen wow them from coast to coast and across the pond. (Speaking of which, be sure to watch the video above as Matt performs the title track to his forthcoming album in Scotland last fall)
In the meantime you can catch Matt at a performance near you and of course see him when he returns to his old stomping grounds at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival next month.
The first single from the album entitled “Fired Up” will be released to iTunes and CMT next week (w/o 08/29/11) so stayed tuned for that and much more from the marvellous Matt Andersen. SABS
