Where in Newfoundland would we stand to see your favourite view?

The home my father built into a cliff overlooking Quidi Vidi Village, known locally as “Kitty Vitty” or “The Gut” (North America's oldest fishing village, in St. John's), where I grew up and where my family emigrated to from Cork, Ireland. Best view in the Village.

Name 3 things I've gotta do when I visit Newfoundland and Labrador:

1. I'd have to say attend the Royal Annual St. John's Regatta on the first Wednesday every August. My family has been involved since the late 1800's and the Regatta is also the topic of my first feature film, based on a true story. (have a look)

2. Strenuous hike 16 km into Gros Morne National Park. On the other side of the mountains you'll find a huge ocean, a beach and a place to pitch and tent and light a campfire. Stay for a few days and enjoy the peace and scenery. No need to take water, just stick your head under one of the natural spring falls.

 3. Visit during open fishery and go cod jigging in a small boat. Even better with Mike Hawco in the boat. (yes, Allan's dad)

What makes Newfoundland & Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

The beautiful people and culture. You'll hardly ever pass someone on the street without a wink, a nod or a “yat” (short for wadda ya at).
