ROYAL ROW-OFF

Posted: June 21, 2011

They'll be making 'waves' in more ways than one and WE LOVE THIS!!!!

Okay, so we thought it was very great when we learned from the official statement released earlier today that part of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to Prince Edward Island would include participating

“in a Dragon boat race across Dalvay Lake where they will be greeted at the finish line by Prince Edward Island Olympic gold medalist, Heather Moyse. Dragon boat teams will consist of professional dragon boat racers and Prince Edward Island athletes.”

Duke & Duchess of CambridgeBUT WAIT….it’s much better than that…the couple’s private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, says “Their Royal Highnesses will team up with Dragon boat racers, taking a boat each – although I hasten to add, not themselves paddling, though probably steering – and they will race across the lake to the opposite bank where crowds will be gathered,"

And those banks will be packed for the Prince & Princess – paddlin’ or not.

Kate Middleton Rowing - Charity Event 2007Now, just so you know - Kate actually trained for a charity Dragon boat race in 2007 – where she joined the all-women team The Sisterhood on the river Thames.  And even though security concerns kept her from participating in the event itself – we’ve gotta believe the preparation for that race puts her as the odds on favourite in Royal Row-off.

Whoever scores the bragging rights on July 4th – we think the whole thing royally rules! SABS
