RIK REESE Timely Tributes & Big Time Touring

Posted: June 17, 2011

A few weeks ago, we got word that Campbellton, New Brunswick's singer songwriter and kickin' country performer Rik Reese had a new single dropping that was perfect for Father’s Day. So true!

Rik Reese PerformsThere's no denying “All for Me” showcases the softer side of the man that calls himself one of ‘Canada’s Untamed Country Rockers’ and the supporting video is a very reflective one.

Great to see for sure and good to know he'll be mixing it up on his upcoming tour.

We wanted to get a smidge more scoop on the touching tune and the summer planned for Rik and his band Neon Highway - so what follows is our 'Q & A', as they, say with Rik Reese

.

SABS: What an amazing tribute to your Dad - such a great song - how did it come together for you?

Rik Reese: This was an easy one for me as it came from the heart.  As a child you always feel that your dad is strict and being unfair, but later in life you realize he was just doing those things "All for Me".

SABS: What would you say was the greatest lesson you ever learned from your father?

Rik Reese:  The greatest lesson I've learned from my father is "work hard for what you have and once you truly earn it, it will truly be yours"

SABS: This new single is just the first of many wonderful things set to happen this summer - give it up buddy - you're gonna be playing on some serious stages!

Rik Reese & Neon HighwayRik Reese: We're pretty excited about being invited back to play again this year at Cavendish Beach Music Festival--2 shows on the kitchen stage on 1 on Main Stage!  Being invited back a second year to a festival is a true indicator on how ya did!  We played three shows in the kitchen stage last and this year, we play two kitchens and 'graduated' for a show on the Main Stage on the line up with Toby Keith.  I think our music/style is a good fit with Toby.

Our summer starts off nicely with a show on the line up with Joe Diffie appropriately named East Shore Summerkick Off (Bouctouche, NB)--June 24.  June 25 brings us to Kennetcook, NS opening for Canadian Legends, The Stampeders--another band off my bucket list to open for! Looking forward to playing my hometown of Campbellton, NB on June 30.  We played there last year and our performance was the highest attended event during their festival week.  It was like a homecoming! Other shows we are excited about are at The Bridgewater Ex with Doc Walker (July 29) Tara Oram (July 30) and our first border crossing performance opening for Big & Rich/Gretchen Wilson in Caribou, Maine on Aug 20.

Rik Reese & Neon HighwaySABS: We can tell from your live performances you're lovin' it up there - what does it mean to you to get out and play

Rik Reese: It's the music business...90% business & 10% music.  Getting out and playing is a break from the office!
