Sutherland will star as ‘President Snow’

When Saint John, New Brunswick born actor Donald Sutherland celebrated his 75th birthday last year he showed no signs of slowing down. When the New Year chimed in 2011 – we sited 7 movies to his credit to be released in this year alone. Well the roles just keep coming for the Hollywood veteran. Just yesterday it was announced he has been cast in the role of President Snow in the big screen adaptation of the best selling novel "The Hunger Games" written by Suzanne Collins.
Sutherland will joins the already cast Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones),Woody Harrelson (No Country For Old Men), Elizabeth Banks (40 Year Old Virgin) and Lenny Kravitz (Precious) to name just a few of the ensemble cast.
“Sutherland will play the role of President Snow, the cruel leader of the dystopian post-North American regime known as Panem. There, two children from each of the 12 Districts are selected annually to compete in the televised gladiatorial battles known as the Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games has a North American release date slated for March 23, 2012.
