When we met The Once last summer – it was great fun! They were a relatively new band – we were a brand new site and it felt like a meeting of kindred spirits you might say.
In the time that has passed Geraldine Hollett, Phil Churchill and Andrew Dale have toured just about everywhere, received 4 Music NL Awards, 2 Canadian Folk Music Awards and right before our latest interview – scored the 2011 ECMA Award for Group Recording! Now that’s a banner year!!!
The best part is – they are just as charming and lovely and fun and funny as they were when we first met. Garnering critical acclaim, a ton of fans across Canada and across the sea…and all those awards you can only be happy and cheer on The Once, for it’s all richly deserved.
Back in studio now cutting their sophomore project, with plans to play the major festival circuit both here at home and internationally - we can only imagine what wonderful times await The Once! SABS

Re: The song performed during our interview…
You see, just prior to our camera rolling – we had been chatting about all the various places The Once had played during ECMA week…and one in particular stood out. While we won’t name the venue we will describe the circumstances (as relayed to us by the trio). First let’s just say – folk music and playoff hockey should never be mixed. When faced with fierce loyalties and flat screen TV’s most of the patrons at the venue that night were facing away from the stage and when their favourite team scored – the loudest song to be heard in the club was not of The Once but of the ones singing "Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé"…and now you know the rest of the story.
