Terrance Murphy – At Home Here in Nova Scotia

Occupation: Call Center C.S.R. Support Desk, Singer, Musician, Actor (voice and stage), writer.

Place of Birth: Born in Glace Bay, but raised in Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton

Currently resides: North Sydney, NS

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a coffee?

Any Tim Horton’s.  Sit in and chat with friends or take it with you to another Sat&Chat spot, preferably with sight and sound of the water.

Where’s your favourite place in Nova Scotia to grab a pint?

Three way tie between The Crown & Moose, Governor’s Pub and Daniels, all in the Sydney downtown area. And always with good people and a bit of music.  But on Thursday nights in North Sydney you get the best hotwings for miles and miles at the North Sydney Fire Hall. Good local music there to! Bring yer dancing shoes!

Where in Nova Scotia would we stand to see your favourite view?

Too many views, so much to sea.  Each place seems the most beautiful until you come to the next place.  But if you need a place to start, start in the Highlands of Cape Breton. Do the Cabot Trail. Twice!! Once in late July, early August, and then come back the second week of October and do it again. It’s a whole other world in the Autumn from Summer. (and try to catch a bit of Celtic Colours while you’re at it!)

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Nova Scotia:

1. Travel the Cabot Trail, windows down, until you hear a fiddle coming from a bar.

2. Stop at that bar, make sure you’re not the DD, and have drink while listening to the fiddle.

3. When the bar closes follow the fiddle home to its kitchen with everyone else and stay till the sun comes up.

What makes Nova Scotia such a special place on earth for you?

All the stories you hear about how nice people are and the hospitality and kindness they show to others… It’s all true!  And not just to strangers from away.  People treat their friends and neighbours the same way, every day.  You’re always home with family when you’re here.

SABS Note of Noteworthiness

We met Terrance doing Cape Breton Christmas Daddies - quite a talent, quite a fella!  You can see Mr. Murphy in action in our look Behind the Scenes of the Telethon.  Check it out!!!
