Shawn O’Hagan – At Home Here in Newfoundland & Labrador

Occupation:  Artisan - Island Sweet Fibre Arts

Place of Birth:  Toronto, ON

Currently Resides:  Corner Brook Newfoundland (since 1975)

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a coffee?

Limited to one cup of my own in the morning, but love the soya chai lattes at Brewed Awakening and Harbour Grounds in Corner Brook, and at Coffee Matters in St. John’s

Where’s your favourite place in Newfoundland & Labrador to grab a pint?

Not drinking any more (reached my lifetime quota about 5 years ago) but many crazy happy memories of the Ship Inn in St. John’s.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in Newfoundland & Labrador?

Definitely 2 places: The Craft Council Gift Shop on Duckworth St in St. John’s, and Home on Water in St. John’s (I could come home happily with any item from that shop).

Where in Newfoundland & Labrador would we stand to see your favourite view?

From the bridge of my cabin in Dark Cove in the Bay of Islands. The sea at my feet. The Blomidon Mountains. Behind me.

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Newfoundland & Labrador

1.  Come see me

2.  Visit Cape St. Mary’s bird sanctuary – mind blowing.

3.  Take a helicopter ride around Gros Morne National Park – I did it this summer!

What makes Newfoundland & Labrador such a special place on earth for you?

It is raw and honest and simple.
