Place of Birth:  Gander, NL

Where’s your favourite place in NL to grab a coffee?

I'm a Starbucks guy - The Starbucks drive-thru on Kenmount Rd has the best coffee and the friendliest staff. But for now - coffee is out for me. A number of friends and I have given up coffee and a number of other favorites in support of the Chilean Miners trapped under the ground until rescuers can reach them in 3 months. No coffee until the miners are rescued.

Where’s your favourite place in NL to grab a pint?

Yellow Belly has the best brewed on site pints. The St. John's Stout and Fighting Irish are fantastic. Alas - no alcohol in solidarity with those Chilean miners too. It's going to be a long fall!

Where’s your favourite place to shop in NL?

I'm a book guy - so I can spend all day at Chapters on Kenmount Rd.

Where in NL would we stand to see your favourite view?

Driving in over Pitts Memorial Drive on your way into downtown St. John's is my favourite view. It all unfolds in front of you as you drive down towards Duckworth or Water Street from the Harbour Arterial. The harbour. The Basilica. The colourful row houses. And of course - overlooking it all: Signal Hill. Beautiful rain or shine. Snow or fog!

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Newfoundland & Labrador

1. You have to have fish and chips at the Duke of Duckworth. Absolutely the best.

2.You have to see Gros Morne National Park. One of the most beautiful places on earth

3.You have to spend an evening having a few drinks and a lot of laughs in someone's shed - or even better - cabin. That's the stuff life long memories are made of.

What makes Newfoundland such a special place on earth for you?

Our provincial magic comes from the people. As Islanders, we've always known we have to depend on ourselves. Motivate ourselves. Entertain ourselves. Be the keepers of our own history and legends. And this has forged a unique people who have a deserved sense of pride and place. This infuses the color into everything about Newfoundland and Labradoreans. Want to experience that evening in a shed or cabin? Show your interest; you'll easily find a local who'll be proud to host you and give you a taste of the famous hospitality of the Rock.
