Angela Antle – At Home Here In Newfoundland

Occupation: Host & Producer of CBC Radio’s WAM – Newfoundland and Labrador’s show “About Galoot of a Culture” and a visual artist

Place of Birth: Grand Falls, Newfoundland (although it's deep in central Nfld...I am considered a "bayman")

Currently Resides: St. John's ("Town")

Where’s your favourite place in NL to grab a coffee?

Hava Java on Water Street (get the Sicilian)

Where’s your favourite place in NL to grab a pint?

Shamrock City on Water Street.

Where’s your favourite place to shop in NL?

Toss up... between Johnny Ruth (for clothing) and Twisted Sisters (for shoes) Both on Water Street in our mini fashion district.

Where in Newfoundland & Labrador would we stand to see your favourite view?

On the hill, behind the graveyard on resettled Exploits Island (SPECTACULAR Minke whale watching)

Name 3 things we’ve gotta do when we visit Newfoundland & Labrador

1.Walk the East Coast Trail

2.Eat "Cod Pot Cod" from Fogo Island at Bacalao

3.Visit The Rooms in St. John's to sample some of our amazing culture

What makes NL such a special place on earth for you?

It may sound corny but it's the people (it certainly ain't the weather)...Newfoundlanders are the kindest, most inquisitive, saucy and creative people on earth. We know how to make fun, have a 'time' and laugh at ourselves. Culture is practised by everyone....I dare you to find a Newfoundlander who can't sing, dance, tell a story or play an instrument....or for that matter hasn't written a book or a play, shot a movie, built a fancy shed or made work for an art show. If you can ...call me up, bring them to Hava Java for a coffee I'd like to meet him/her.
